Videwi Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 13, 2025
Welcome to Videwi! We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application Videwi (hereinafter referred to as the "Application").
1. Information Collection
We may collect information about you in various ways. The information we may collect via the Application includes:
- Personal Data: We do not require you to provide personally identifiable information, such as your name or email address, to use the basic features of the Application, as account creation is not provided. However, if you contact customer support via email, you may voluntarily provide us with your contact details (e.g., email address) to receive a response.
- Usage Data (Firebase Analytics): Information that your device sends automatically when using the Application, such as your IP address, device type, device identifiers (e.g., Google Advertising ID), operating system, information about your interaction with the Application (e.g., screens visited, features used, time and date of your visit, time spent on screens), crash information, and other statistical data. This data is collected using the Firebase Analytics service to analyze and improve the Application's performance.
- Camera and Microphone Data (WebRTC and QR Code Scanning): To provide the core video communication and QR code scanning features (e.g., for connecting to another device), our Application requests access to your device's camera (permission `android.permission.CAMERA`) and microphone (permission `android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO`). We access this data only with your explicit consent.
Audio and video data transmitted during video communication using WebRTC technology is established directly between users' devices on the local network (peer-to-peer) and is not stored on our servers. We do not use external STUN/TURN servers for data relay.
Camera data for QR code scanning is processed locally on the device to recognize the code and establish a connection, and is not transmitted to our servers.
- Data for Advertising (AdMob): Our Application uses the AdMob service (provided by Google) to display advertisements. AdMob may collect and use data such as your device identifier (e.g., Google Advertising ID – Advertising ID), IP address, general location information (e.g., city or country), and information about your interaction with the displayed ads. This data is used to show ads that may be more relevant to you and to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. You can manage ad personalization settings in your Google device settings.
- Network Data: The Application requests `android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE` and `android.permission.INTERNET` permissions for network access, which is necessary for Firebase Analytics, AdMob, and for establishing local WebRTC connections.
2. Use of Your Information
The information collected by the Application is used for the following purposes:
- To ensure the operation of the Application's core features, including video communication via WebRTC and QR code scanning.
- To provide and improve the Application's services.
- To analyze Application usage and trends to enhance your user experience (using data collected by Firebase Analytics).
- To display advertisements that may be relevant to you and to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns (using data collected by AdMob).
- To ensure the technical functionality of the Application.
3. Disclosure of Your Information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. However, we may share certain information we have collected about you in the following situations:
- Service Providers: We use third-party services that help us operate and improve the Application. These services may collect and process data on behalf of the Application to perform certain functions. Such services include:
- Google (Firebase Analytics, AdMob): For analyzing Application usage and displaying advertisements. Google has its own privacy policies describing how they handle data. We recommend reviewing Google's privacy policy.
- By Law or to Protect Rights: If we believe the release of information is necessary to respond to legal process (e.g., a court order or subpoena), to investigate potential violations of our policies, to prevent or address illegal activity, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of the Application, our users, or others.
4. Security of Your Information
We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. Audio and video streams for WebRTC are transmitted directly between user devices on the local network and are not stored on our servers. However, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse, especially when transmitting data over the internet or wireless networks.
5. User Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data. Since we do not collect personal information for account creation, most requests for access or deletion of data in the traditional sense may not be applicable. However, you can:
- Manage ad personalization settings through your device settings.
- Revoke consent for camera or microphone use through your device's permission settings.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Your continued use of the Application after changes are made means you accept the updated Policy.
